What is First Night?
A community celebration of the arts taking place in over 25 venues in downtown St. Petersburg on New Years Eve and is sponsored by The Rowdies.
Fabulous family and kids activities at the First United Methodist Church from 4 to 7 p.m.
Bands and musical groups ranging from Jazz to Opera, puppet shows, history tours, ice skating, bubble stomping and resolution making, dance performances, and fabulous outdoor art installations from 6 p.m. to midnight.
How do I get around?
Park in one of the Parking garages and wear your walking shoes. Venues are within walking distance. We will have a First Trolley running along @nd Ave N for First Night Button holders. You must have a button to ride.
Don't miss the Wannemacher Jensen Architects Interactive Light Sculpture in Williams Park! Also we have moved our Dance Stage to Williams Park this year. We have brought back the Drum Circle! Go to Spa Beach Park and join Drum Magic for a evening of Drum fun. The first splash of fireworks is the Firstkids firework show and will take off at 8 p.m. The big Firework Finale will fire off at midnight.
What's on fire?
The First Night Bonfire in North Straub Park where revelers can write their words of worry and New Year's wishes, cast them into the fire, and send them up in smoke. We will also be building and burning a Resolution Fire Sculpture in Spa Beach Park, be sure to add your resolution as it is built.
What's the finale?
The Finale Stage in North Straub Park will feature the Mediterranean sounds of Kafkasso and their amazing belly dancers followed by the American Folk Rock and Newgrass sounds of Boxcar Hollow presented by The Mandarin Hide Cocktail Lounge.
What's the ticket?
Flickering First Night buttons serve as tickets to all the festivities. The cost for each button if you buy them early is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages six through twelve. On December 31st Adult buttons are $15 and $10 Children ages six through twelve. Children 5 and under are always free! Buttons can be purchased in advance on the First Night Web site and in local shops starting Thanksgiving.. At First Night, buttons are for sale at most venues at 6pm and the First Night Information tent, located at the corner of Beach Drive and Second Avenue NE starting about 2 p.m.

First Night St. Petersburg is an independent 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization operated by a volunteer board of directors. The mission of First Night is to broaden and deepen the public's appreciation for the visual and performing and literary arts through an innovative, diverse and high quality program on New Year's Eve, which offers the community a shared cultural experience that is accessible and affordable.
First Night St. Petersburg started in 1993, led by a group of citizens interested in creating a diverse community event for St. Petersburg. The intent of First Night is to provide an opportunity for St. Petersburg to celebrate entering the New Year together and to celebrate the many performing and visual arts, individuals and organizations in our community – as well as the artist in all of us.
